WHO WE ARE - Donnie vincent

"Don't confuse me with being anything else other than proud. Proud to be a hunter. It's time we stop apologizing for how we get our protein. This is who we are. Unless you’re a small time rancher, small time farmer, a hunter or fishermen... you really have no idea where your food comes from. Most people don’t even think about it. Well, we think about it. ” - Donnie Vincent.

Ridge Reaper Season 4_Episode 4: Alone

"Once you learn to love the harshness, the cold, the discomfort...then there is nothing left to hold you back and that, right there, is the recipe to success." - Remi Warren

The Gutless Method

Hunting elk in the backcountry with Randy Newberg explains the most important bit of information any backcountry hunter can have. This video shows you how to break down an animal, in this case a deer, and convert it to manageable pieces you can haul out on your back. What we call the "gutless method" is the most efficient manner to get all useable meat off the carcass.

Elk Hunting Cartridges and Calibers

Elk hunting cartridges and calibers, at least in Randy Newberg's opinion, does not require super magnums. Deer cartridges/calibers, with good bullets, placed in the right place, make excellent elk cartridges. I prefer a .308 Win. I often use a .300 Win Mag, depending upon distance and conditions. I try to get as close as possible. Distance amplifies human error and influence of environmental conditions.
